It is OK to attend AA to get through the rough parts. You use that time to determine your priorities and the means to do them. At thta point, attending AA no longer serves a purpose. AA had done the job you set for it. Then, it is time to leave AA.

That is exactly what I have come to know without a shadow of a doubt: I want healthier people in my life. I don’t want whatever AA thinks it has. I got tired of watching how dishonestly the entire system of AA is ran including all of its outside affiliations. I got tired of how people are treated in the rooms too. If AA thinks what goes on in their clubs is God they are sadly mistaken. It isn’t even “good”. I learned nothing at AA.

Yes,meetings are not good for my sobriety.I decided I wanted healthier people in my life.I got so tired of watching old timers use new comers for sex, money or whatever they could get out of them.

The horrible deceptive behaviors among the old-timers keeping eachothers’ secrets was one of the reasons I hated AA so much by the end of my time there. The old-timers were like a flock of the most vile creeps I have ever met all in one place in my entire life. I wasn’t going to stay “forever” in that loser’s paradise trying to be honest, have virtues, or set an example of being “recovered” it was almost impossible. AA itself was extremely depressing.

It is very common to have old timers use new comers for sex and money.Everyone outside of AA is considered other so that complete dependence on the program can take hold.Old timers who can’t make it in the world get lots of praise and honor for staying sober and not dying so people look the other way when they abuse ,cheat .lie and sleep with married new comers saying it is good for their self esteem.

I just came across this thread & was waiting for an update in another week if all the 2 weeks of nightly prayers for you from 80eighty1 turn out to be true? I am really curious to see how well AA’s prayers work? Remember everything this person wants God is suppose to give to you!

Your comment contradicts itself where your group is broke & can’t pay the rent, but another group had $9K on hand to steal? Maybe you should check to see if your treasurer is stealing all the funds. Some thing that I am sure isn’t new to AA, because it is a cult game of nonsense & doesn’t offer anything realistic to recovery from alcoholism. Alanon is another joke too making the victims of your alcoholic abuse do the cult insanity song & dance forever too. AA & Alanon is full of weirdos.

Sorry to tell you that you are wrong to accuse me of having any responsibility to the crimes committed in AA. One was reported. Just like the AA hidden report in 2000 where police are investigating a high # of complaints against sexual abuse in AA. You can keep believing AA makes no money all you want, but it isn’t what their public tax records reflect. It is all a fraud cult of lies in relationship to a solution to alcoholism. Keep on supporting your cult forever, because I am happy I left.

Well humy, I guess you are complicit in those crimes if you didn’t report them to the proper authorities.
I’m not sure how much the administrators make, but I can sure tell you they aren’t getting rich off my group! We can’t even pay the rent the church charges most of the time. Thank goodness they let us “slide” on it. There was a group in b’ham that lost 9,000$ when a treasurer relapsed and ran off with it. AA is just about the only thing in this world today that is not about money!

I witnessed so many crimes in AA by groups of old-timers where ethics is a huge failure to function in the cult. Greg Muth making $164/hr off the cult of AA is very suspicious for a non-profit. I witnessed old-timers preying on newcomers for everything from money & sex to business scams. You keep believing & promoting the lies of AA, because you are deeply in denial. AA is the most dishonest program I have ever been involved with in my entire life, & they do make huge profits off of people.

That sounds like cult God solutions of wishful thinking. Maybe we should check back with Speedy in 2 weeks & see what sort of miracles manifested themselves in her life out of thin air of your empty prayers. Prayers are an empty way of avoiding accountability or taking action to honestly help another person. I was a true believer of prayer for most of my life until I experienced the hocus pocus lies of AA’s God lies.

89 – didn’t know ‘Seinfeld’ was hip enough to take a shot at the wonderful world of 12X12. wasn’t a big fan.
nobody ‘accused’ you of anything, dips**t. i merely expressed ’suspicion’. you could call that ‘ironic’ but then you’d be biting from alanis morisette & making the same mistakes she made.
you’ve lost your entertainment value & you had little to begin with. so, f**k you & f**k off.
don’t forget to call your sponsor!

Quoting Seinfeld speedy, refers to “serenity now baby”.
How ironic I stand accused of using speedy’s words out of context on this format.

89 – quoting ‘Seinfeld’? wtf? i pulled that quote from your post.
are you keeping a scrapbook of my posts? how cute!
quotes 1 & 2 come w/o context & ellipsis, so you’ll pardon my suspicion of their ‘accuracy’ on the whole. the last one was probably aimed @ a poster who deserved it. no regrets.
fyi, if you’d ever posted anything outside of 12X12 dogma (like something rational & fairly convincing) i’d note it.
nothing yet.

Good to see ya Speedy! Quoting “Seinfeld” no less!
My favorite Speedy quotes:
-”AA adherents are..low IQ, emotionally damaged misfits”
-”false 12 step horses..t”
-”AA’s goal…to get and keep ‘forever members’ for money, subservience and recruitment”
-”god is an illusion of people of small character, fear of death, and confidence that stupidity is a form of transcendence.”
-”god doesn’t give a f..k”
-*wistfully*: “a dick, an immense dick”
celebrate festivus speedy!

You haven’t been paying attention, or are suffering from selective blindness again. There is material on every page of the first 164 which is untrue, half-true, or self-contradicting. We criticise it loudly, and often. Mike

Over 60% of new members are mandated to attend by an outside agency. They are attracted to AA to get their slips signed, to keep their HHS benefits, to keep their jobs, and to stay out of/avoid jail. Some attraction. Mike
