There was a time in the not so historic realms of history where all on the planet believed the earth was flat. All the rules of society were based on living on a flat earth, fears were developed and harbored within that belief. Life as it was known revolved around a flat surface of understanding. We could say they were stupid, ignorant, idiots…. them with their leeches. But from where they stood, with the perspective they had, they were living on the leading edge. It took a young visionary rebelling against all that was ‘real’ to change their perspective of the ‘truth’

At each place we stand in history, we see the edge of our reality before us. There are those that choose to set up camp a far distance from the edge to create doctrines, make their view law and make hierarchy of their beliefs. There are others that play right there, at the precipice. Challenging beliefs, challenging what we have named “Truth” The teens with their fresh view, the rebels and leaders assisting us through revolution into evolution. As well as those that leap right off the edge.

When they succeed by our standards we call them visionaries, when they appear to fail also by our standards we add them to the statistics. Lets begin this conversation on teens and alcoholism by asking some questions about our own version of truth for today. What if these teens on the front lines of this thing we have named a “war on drugs”, are indeed in the midst of a revolution? How can we step back far enough to get a more broad perspective and see the evolution found within the journey of alcoholism and addiction that is our destiny?
