Product Description
In Overcoming Crystal Methamphetamine Addiction, one of the few books to address the topic for a general audience, Dr. Steven Lee, MD, a psychiatrist who specializes in crystal meth addiction, offers a complete guide to the drug, its effects, and how to overcome it. Based on extensive scientific and social research and drawing from his professional experience, he covers everything from the definition and history of crystal meth to the physical and psychological effects; from dealing with the addictive personality to helping a friend or family member cope with it. He focuses on understanding rather than outright condemnation of the drug, and empathetically covers all of the crucial questions: What is crystal meth? How is it made? How does it affect the body? How do you know if you’re addicted to it? How do you stop using it? What if you don’t want to stop? If you are going to use CM anyway, how can you minimize the damage? What if you quit but slipped and used again?

I felt the doctor who wrote the book concentrated more on usage of crystal meth by gays. I cannot relate to that aspect. Also he was very lenient in his thinking about quitting. According to his rationale you can cut back on crystal meth, an option that I don’t think hard-core users could be successful at doing. In my opinion it was more a handbook for users who will continue to use than a method to quit using immediately and for good.

I’m not an addict myself and never have been, but my mom always has been and my fiance just recently fell into it. This book helped me tremendously, to understand the drug and the addict. I have yet to convince my fiance to read it & I fear I will lose him, but at least I am no longer making myself crazy over how I can help him, because I now know I cannot. I highly reccomend this book for anyone using, thinking of using, or knows someone who uses.

As a 10-year meth addict looking to get clean I was having a hard time finding literature that didn’t completely demonize my addiction & “turn me off” from reading it – then I found this book. Dr Lee does a great job of presenting information about meth & meth addiction without judgement. How refreshing that someone finally let the facts speak for themselves so I could start to see meth for the true demon it was.
This book was probably the biggest factor in convincing me to get clean FOR GOOD a year ago. I recommend it to anyone who uses meth, is thinking of using meth, or just wants to understand meth better.

I feel like this book saved my life! My husband been using meth for 5 years, and for the past year I’ve been feeling trapped using almost every single day. I bought this book because I wanted to get information without having to talk to anyone, and it helped me so much. Don’t worry-the cover isn’t that scary red (I was afraid my friends would see it), it’s actually green. This book gave me hope that he can get better, and it saved my marriage! It helped me finally know what it is he’s going through! Now we are looking for someone to help him quit. If you’re not ready to talk with someone yet but want to know more about how to stop using meth, get this book!
