Product Description
Crack cocaine—How does someone go from living in a small rural farming community in upstate New York to living in Miami and becoming addicted to crack cocaine? James tells his alarming and true-life story of how he was relocated to Miami as a young teenager, and by the age of sixteen he had already begun snorting cocaine. James exposes how three years later his addiction to snorting cocaine evolved into a weekly and then daily crack cocaine habit, and how for the next twenty-five years his only goal in life was to get more crack cocaine. James also gives a glimpse into the enormous availability of crack cocaine still on our American streets today and explains the overwhelming addictive nature and the horrifying reality of crack addiction as he tells the story of his life’s struggle with crack cocaine.

This story is absorbing and feels very real. I was left wanting to know more about Jim’s life that wasn’t covered in the book. Without question, his story offers a doorway into the life of a crack addict and leaves you enlightened – and also helps explain why it is so difficult for non-addicts to understand or relate. No easy answers and plenty of scary situations, but a doorway nonetheless.

I was totally absorbed in the book Crack’d. I was led into a world of the unknown for me. I learned the way of life for a person hooked on Crack. It was heartbreaking and very scary at times. Nonetheless, I think it is a book everyone should read before trying Crack, or any drug for that matter. It would definitely hinder the desire to try, or to use drugs. There was suspense never knowing for sure if family and loved ones would standby to help or give up on the addict completely; as he seemed a totally lost soul at times.
Excellent read.
